Modern life presents more opportunities and distractions than ever before. We want it all. Family, friends, marriage, children, career, hobbies, money, vacations, meaning, and purpose. It seems that the more we have, the less time we have.

Yet the less time we have, the less of God we sense in our lives. If you have ever felt overwhelmed or burned out in pursuit of any of the above things, you’re in the perfect place. I’ve been there, too.

My name is Helen. I am a Christian, wife, stepmom, mental health nurse, and writer. For fun, I love dogs, cooking, and electronic dance music (EDM).

I write about the intersection of Christian faith and social science. My goal is to help people slow down and find ways to navigate the challenges of modern life while growing spiritually. I explore the concepts of slower/simpler living and productivity as Christians in today’s fast-paced world.

This blog contains both shorter devotionals and longer feature articles to help you reduce overwhelm, recover from burnout, and live intentionally for God.

As a driven, type-A person, slowing down does not come naturally to me. I write not because I have mastered these things, but because I am in the humble process of learning.

Join me in this journey.
